TULSA, Okla. â€" Celebrity Attractions at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center announced their shows for the 2025-2026 season, which will include the national tour debut of "The Outsiders" musical.
"The big news is that the Broadway production, the Tony award winning production, of "The Outsiders" is going to be opening its official tour opening right here in Tulsa this coming October," said Matthew Rego, one of the producers for The Outsiders musical.
According to Rego, the City of Tulsa has always been a vital part of the musical.
"Tulsa has been part of this process from the beginning for us. We came here with our creative team to meet [S.E. Hinton], to meet the people of Tulsa, to just look at the land and look at the environment and learn about the community...I think that part of their belief in this city and what it can do and what it can be, it really stuck with us and I think inspired us to try to say we have to do this story right. We have to tell it with respect, we have to do it with honor and so to be able to come back here now with our tour and have it be the place where we officially open and launch what's going to be a multi-year tour across North America, it's just an honor honestly. It's just an honor to share it with this audience, to share it with this community that has such a rightful sense of ownership to this story."
