Coronation Street schedule changes slammed by I'm a Celebrity winner

I'm a Celebrity winner Tony Blackburn has criticised ITV amid more schedule changes for Coronation Street.

The ITV soap has been frequently moved over recent weeks due to the ongoing FA Cup, with yesterday's episode being shifted to tonight (Thursday, February 29) from 8pm to 9pm, before it returns tomorrow (Friday, March 1) at the same time.

It's not the only soap to be moved in favour of football coverage, with EastEnders fans seeing the timing of their weekly episodes changed. This week's schedule will see the BBC soap hit screens at 7.30pm tonight, and a double episode from 7.30pm tomorrow.

Many fans of the show have aired their frustrations over the schedule changes, including legendary DJ and TV presenter Blackburn.

Taking to X to air his frustrations, he wrote: "This is now beyond a joke for all us Coronation Street fans. More football this evening on BBC and ITV which means no Corrie.

"Why can't they put football on other channels and leave us Coronation Street fans alone or put Coronation Street on say ITV2 we will follow it anywhere!!!"

Copious Corrie fans agreed with the star, whilst actor Daniel Brocklebank, who plays Billy Mayhew in the soap, taking the time to thank Blackburn for his love of the show.

"This has made my night! I grew up listening to you. I love it that you love us," he wrote.

This week's episodes have been well worth the wait, however, with plenty of drama unfolding. Steve McDonald's world was rocked when Tracy Barlow's affair with his idol Tommy Orpington was exposed.

Tracy finally told Steve she was bored of their marriage and ended things with Steve, leaving him devastated in the wake of the revelation as he was planning to ask Tracy to renew their wedding vows.

Elsewhere, Dee-Dee Bailey deals with the aftermath of discovering boyfriend Joel Deering had a secret life complete with a wife, Emily, and a daughter, Maisie. After throwing him out and continuing with her life, Emily urged Dee-Dee not to give up on Joel and assured her that their marriage is well and truly over.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.

Queens family hires celebrity security guard to watch over $2M home taken over by squatter

The Queens family whose dream mansion was taken over by a squatter have hired a celebrity security guard to watch over the $2 million home, according to a report.

Susana and Joseph Landa, both 68, haven't been able to enter their Douglaston, Queens home since signing the deed in October.

The burly guard was stationed outside the mansion Thursday, one day after news broke that the homeowner's previous caretaker was refusing to leave the premises.

"I work for the owner of the house. These people are good people, it is a shame what is going on," the guard told the DailyMail.

The Queens home was supposed to be a dream for the Landas. WABC-TV Squatter Brett Flores has been living in the home since the man he was caretaking for died in January 2023. WABC-TV

"There's probably two people [in the house]. It shouldn't be happening. Whoever made those [squatters' rights] rules up is smoking some kind of crack."

Although he didn't share his name, the watchman confirmed he had experience working high-profile cases in the past — including standing guard at Bill Gates' daughter's 2021 wedding.

The security measure is the latest in a string of desperate attempts by the Landas to wrestle control of their property from the squatter, who worked on a $3,000-a-week salary as the caretaker of the former owner until the man died in January 2023.

Susana and Joseph Landa, both 68, haven't been able to enter their Douglaston, Queens home since signing the deed in October. WABC-TV The couple hoped to move into the home and begin their retirement together along with their son. WABC-TV

Brett Flores, 32, has repeatedly claimed the previous owner gave him a "license" to live in the house, despite the Landas' legal purchase of the home in October.

The couple had high expectations for the home. Close to relatives, the location was perfect for their son Alex, who has Down syndrome and could be easily looked after if something was ever to happen to the couple.

"I just want to know that I can die tomorrow and he's next to his brother," Susana Landa told ABC 7.

The squatter has not only been running up a hefty tab on the Landas' dime, but is even listing rooms in the mansion for rent. WABC-TV The couple had high expectations for the home. The squatter has not only been running up a hefty tab on the Landas' dime, but is even listing rooms in the mansion for rent.

The couple has unsuccessfully tried to evict Flores, who is protected from being booted thanks to his recent bankruptcy declaration.

The Landas have had five hearings in civil court since they bought the home, but the process keeps getting held up by Flores' antics.

The couple are taking Flores to landlord-tenant court in hopes of getting him evicted, but the court hearing is not until April.

"It makes me feel completely forgotten in this legal system, unfair, and not able to do anything," Joseph Landa said.

Whoopi Goldberg Reveals She Used to Leak Gossip to ‘The View’ Cohosts to Catch the Mole

ABC/Jenny Anderson

Whoopi Goldberg revealed she has a secret — and very clever — way to track down who's spreading gossip among her pals.

When The View cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin said she enjoys trying to "catch a gossip" by planting "false information" and seeing "if it makes its way around," Goldberg, 68, confessed she had also tried that tactic in the past.

"We have done that, we have done that," Goldberg said on the Thursday, February 29, episode, while looking at cohost Joy Behar. "We did that to see who was talking. Yeah."

While initially reacting with confusion, Behar, 81, replied, "Oh," while cohost Sunny Hostin quipped, "Now, you see, that's a little bit of gossip I would like to know about."

Since The View premiered in August 1997, more than 20 women have had permanent roles as cohosts on the ABC morning talk show. The series, which was created by Barbara Walters, features a multi-generational panel that conducts interviews and discusses the news of the day, ranging from politics to entertainment. The original lineup was comprised […]

While Goldberg may be keen to learn who's the biggest gossip of the bunch, she previously said she's just fine being left out of a group chat with her cohosts.

During a January 2024 episode of the ABC talk show, Farah Griffin, 34, asked whether there's a text chain she's not included in. Hostin, 55, admitted there had been one in the past but noted that Goldberg would "gladly" give up her spot for Farah Griffin.

"I feel like Michael Corleone, because I take myself off the group texts," Goldberg quipped in response, to which Hostin replied, "And Joy puts you right back on."

Despite cohost Ana Navarro saying that Goldberg should silence her notifications rather than just removing herself from the chat, Goldberg remained firm with her stance.

"Silencing y'all does not mean being part of it," she said. "I don't care. I don't care what you're upset about. It's the weekend!"

A true icon! Whoopi Goldberg went from humble beginnings to making history — and she doesn't show any signs of stopping. The multitalented star grew up in New York City before moving across the country to California in the 1970s. Her first major career breakthrough occurred back on her home turf with the success of […]

When Navarro pointed out that there can be miscommunication — including someone accidentally texting the wrong person — when there's not a large group chat, Goldberg replied, "See, that's why I'm not on all of that stuff because I know who I'm texting."

"If I need to talk to you, I'll talk to you," Goldberg concluded. "I communicate when I have something to say. I don't just be sending y'all stuff. I'm busy."

When Goldberg's not trying to catch the gossiper — or avoid being placed in a text chain — she's getting ready to launch her memoir, Bits & Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me, which will hit shelves in May.

The memoir, which honors her late mother and brother, will be "semi-autobiographical and chronicle her life growing up in New York City. (Goldberg's mother, Emma Harris, died at the age of 78 in 2010 after suffering a stroke, while her brother, Clyde K. Johnson, died at the age of 65 in 2015 of a brain aneurysm.)

Thank You!

You have successfully subscribed.

"This book is dedicated to my mother and my brother and our time together as a small, funny little unit," Goldberg told People in January. "It's dedicated to anyone who's found themselves on a scary path not of their choosing or dealing with loss."

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.

Web3 Entertainment Group Imaginary Ones Doubles Down on Gaming, Content and Merchandise with Investment from Cypher Capital, Animoca Brands

Latest oversubscribed funding round will fast track development of entertainment ecosystem.

Singapore - February 29, 2024 —

Renowned Web3 company, Imaginary Ones, which shot to fame in 2022 when their limited NFT collection sold out in 4 minutes flat, today announced their Web3 entertainment ambitions, doubling down on gaming, content and merchandise. Their vision is further boosted by their latest oversubscribed funding round led by Cypher Capital.

Known for their iconic 'bubble characters', Imaginary Ones took the NFT world by storm with the sell-out of their first release in record time: a limited NFT collection of 8,888 fully animated 3D characters on the Ethereum network.

On the heels of that, Imaginary Ones became the first Asia NFT project in 2023 to partner with an international fashion brand – HUGO BOSS – on a 360 metaverse experience. Limited-edition merchandise, capsule collections and a HUGO BOSS presence in Web3 gaming content are just the start of the long-term roadmap that cuts across Web2 and Web3 worlds.

Most recently, Imaginary Ones launched their Web3 gaming series – Bubble Rider and Bubble Rangers – featuring HUGO BOSS Riders and Rangers and garnering 6 million plays in three weeks. Cementing their gaming chops is Imaginary Ones' newly-minted partnership with Immutable to accelerate their mobile-first gaming approach and take Imaginary Ones to audiences everywhere.

With gaming and merchandise under their belt, Imaginary Ones now adds content and film to their Web3 entertainment roadmap, fuelled by their latest funding round and the addition of advisors in streaming entertainment.

"Imaginary Ones is built on the promise that if you can imagine it, we can build it. Our Web3 entertainment roadmap brings together gaming, merchandise and content to create the Imaginary World. In the same way that our imagination knows no divide between Web2 and Web3, Imaginary World unites experiences in both the metaverse and in real life, where users play, interact and build together. And within Q1 this year, we will be rolling out our $BUBBLE coin, which will give users access to the entire entertainment ecosystem within the Imaginary World," said Clement Chia, Co-Founder of Imaginary Ones.

A slew of executives from heavyweight streaming content companies have joined Imaginary Ones as advisors to fast-track the Web3 entertainment group's content ambitions.

"Web3 is revolutionising every sector but its impact on the entertainment industry is profound: it opens up a whole new world of immersive content and sets new rules of engagement for content creation, royalties and distribution. I am looking forward to bringing the best of streaming content and Web3 together through strategic partnerships to realise the Imaginary World of entertainment," said Kuek Yu-Chuang, advisor to Imaginary Ones. He has held prior positions at Yahoo! and Netflix, and previously led international expansion for Chinese streaming giant iQIYI.

Other heavyweights advising the Imaginary Ones on their Web3 entertainment vision are Amit Malhotra with close to two decades at Disney under his belt, and Gwendolyn Regina, former Binance investment director and a well-known connector in the deep tech startup world.

Backing Imaginary Ones is a slew of well-known Web3 investors, including Cypher Capital, Animoca Brands, ED3N Ventures and MH Ventures, who joined an oversubscribed funding round for an undisclosed amount.

"Imaginary Ones has truly caught our attention with their endeavour of building a strong IP with their captivating characters and successful NFT collection. Their future plans and ecosystem strategy, supported by industry giants like HUGO BOSS and SAMSUNG speak volumes about their commitment to excellence. We are excited about Imaginary Ones's venture into establishing a robust gaming IP, bringing unique experiences into the Web3 gaming world," said Karan Gandhi, Chartered Financial Analyst - Investment Director at Cypher Capital Group.

"The Web3 entertainment ecosystem of Imaginary Ones targets the young adult audience, a segment that plays an important role in facilitating the mass onboarding that will make Web3 ubiquitous," said Yat Siu, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Animoca Brands.

"In the middle of a funding winter, the strong response we have received from key Web3 investors is a testament to our track record and the power of our Web3 entertainment roadmap. Ultimately, Imaginary Ones is a Web3 entertainment group that is not just for crypto natives – but an entertainment IP that will go wherever your imagination takes you," said David Lee, Co-Founder of Imaginary Ones.

About Imaginary Ones:

Imaginary Ones is a Web3 entertainment company, seamlessly integrating interactive gaming experiences, curated merchandise offerings and captivating content to redefine the boundaries of immersive entertainment. Founded by Clement Chia and David Lee, Imaginary Ones brings together gaming, merchandise and content on the promise that "If you can imagine it, we can build it".

Alongside two other partners – Gregory Poon and Jerome Kwek, the team launched one of the most successful global NFT projects thus far, selling out the entire collection within 4 minutes of the Dutch Auction sale. To date, more than 17,000 Ethereum (~$37,000,000 USD) of sales volume have been transacted on OpenSea.

Reliance, Disney merger: What this means for India’s media-entertainment industry

It could perhaps be called the baap of all media deals in India. In fact, one headline said 'an entertainment juggernaut emerges'.

On Wednesday (28 February) night, after months of speculation, Reliance and Disney announced that they had decided to merge their entertainment assets in India and create a $8.5 billion (more than Rs 70,000 crore) media behemoth with more than 100 TV channels, two large streaming services – Disney+Hotstar and JioCinema – and a massive content library.

As the two join hands, we take a closer look at the mega deal and how it will shake up India's media landscape.

About the Reliance-Disney deal

As per the arrangement signed between Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries and Walt Disney Company, Reliance's Viacom18 will merge with Disney's Star India. Reliance Industries will own 16.3 per cent of the merged entity, Viacom18 will own 46.8 per cent and Disney 36.8 per cent.

It has also been announced that Reliance will infuse $1.4 billion in the merged entity, and Mukesh Ambani's wife, Nita Ambani, will serve as the chairman of this new entity. Additionally, former Disney India chair Uday Shankar will serve as vice chair and strategic advisor.

"The JV will be one of the leading TV and digital streaming platforms for entertainment and sports content in India, bringing together iconic media assets across entertainment (eg, Colors, StarPlus, StarGOLD) and sports (eg Star Sports and Sports18)," the companies said in a joint statement.

The companies further said, "The JV will have over 750 million viewers across India and will also cater to the Indian diaspora across the world."

As per the statement released by Reliance and Disney, Nita Ambani will serve as the chairman of the new entity. File image/Reuters

Additionally, the merged entity will be granted exclusive rights to distribute Disney films and productions in India, with a license to more than 30,000 Disney content assets, providing a full suite of entertainment options for the Indian consumer.

The deal is most likely to be completed by the end of this year or the beginning of 2025.

Mukesh Ambani, the chair and MD of Reliance Industries, added, "This is a landmark agreement that heralds a new era in the Indian entertainment industry. We have always respected Disney as the best media group globally and are very excited at forming this strategic joint venture that will help us pool our extensive resources, creative prowess, and market insights to deliver unparalleled content at affordable prices to audiences across the nation. We welcome Disney as a key partner of Reliance group."

Once the deal was inked, Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, said: "India is the world's most populous market, and we are excited for the opportunities that this joint venture will provide to create long-term value for the company. Reliance has a deep understanding of the Indian market and consumer, and together we will create one of the country's leading media companies, allowing us to better serve consumers with a broad portfolio of digital services and entertainment and sports content."

Disney has struggled to create growth in India. The giant was hit hard when it lost the right to stream IPL cricket matches to JioCinema. It suffered further losses when shows like Game of Thrones and Succession moved to JioCinema. File image/Reuters

Backdrop to the Reliance- Disney deal

This deal has been in the making for some time now. In fact, talks of such a merger have been circulating since last December when Disney's Bob Iger had said that the company wanted to focus on its core business, and called linear TV non-core.

Disney, which came to India in 1993, has been struggling in recent years. In 2022, Hotstar, which is Disney's streaming channel in India, failed to win the streaming rights for the 2023-2027 seasons of the Indian Premier League cricket tournament. It lost 11.5 million Indian subscribers, a loss big enough for any company to bear.

Moreover, losses were exacerbated in March last year when Warner Bros Discovery moved its content — including shows like Game of Thrones and Succession — to JioCinema.

Implications of Reliance-Disney merger

As experts note, this Reliance-Disney deal — being touted as one of the biggest in the media and entertainment industry — will mark a significant shift in the media landscape of India.

Think about it: through this deal, there will be a whopping 120 channels — Viacom18 has 40, including Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and MTV, along with Disney Star having 80 — across general entertainment, sports, children's TV, documentaries and lifestyle. This is about 49 per cent of the broadcasting market.

When it comes to streaming, the merger will see the combination of Disney+ Hotstar, which currently leads the country's subscription-based video streaming market with 38.3 million subscribers, and JioCinema, a prominent player in the ad-supported video streaming market. As of September last year, JioCinema had about 237 million monthly active users. This means that the new merged entity.

The Reliance-Disney merger will see the combination of Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema. File image/Reuters

In fact, as per a Reuters report, the merged entity would have a combined library of 200,000 plus hours of content which would include television dramas, movies and sport events.

MorganStanley analysts further noted that this new entity would also have exclusive digital and broadcast rights to some of the key sporting events – including the next four years of IPL, flagship ICC events, domestic Indian cricket, FIFA World Cup , Premier League, and Wimbledon.

Techcrunch quoting Bernstein analysts reported that the combined operations of Disney's Hotstar and JioCinema will have a market leadership within India OTT market with about 85 per cent monthly active OTT user base.

"This merger will have a very big impact on the entire media and entertainment ecosystem," Elara Capital senior vice president Karan Taurani told AFP. "It's going to be a one of its kind." He further said the merger could help put their streaming platforms on a "path towards profitability" in the medium to long term by bringing down content costs.

Geetha Ranganathan, a Bloomberg Intelligence analyst, said to TIME, "The merger can result in meaningful cost savings and improve Disney's bottom line."

As Ken Leon, research director at CFRA Research told CNBC, "The JV will not hurt Disney's earnings, noting that the merger was a win-win for all parties. Cricket is everything in India… I think [CEO> Bob Iger made the right decisions here."

Kevin Costner's Divorce Lawyer Has a Good Idea Why 2023 Was the Year of Hollywood Breakups

Anyone who follows pop culture will look back on 2023 as the year when major A-list celebrities said goodbye to their marriages. It felt like one jaw-dropping couple after another — Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello, Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner, and Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth — all of these familiar faces entered 2024 with a life looking very different from the start of 2023. What was going on in Hollywood to make these power couples call it quits?

That's where Laura Wasser, famed celebrity family law attorney at Wasser, Cooperman & Mandles, P.C. and the Chief of Divorce Evolution at Divorce.com, enters the chat. While she can't give away her clients' secrets, including Costner and Manganiello, she can share her insight into some of the reasons why celebrity couples, in general, went their separate ways in the same year. Since her work is directly tied to the Southern California area, Wasser noted that the events that were "happening in our world" had a major effect. "We had a huge strike or strikes between the writers' strike and then the actors' strike and we had a lot of people that weren't working. They were really looking forward to getting back to work post-COVID," she explains to SheKnows.

Joe Manganiello and Sofía Vergara.

Not only did the pandemic and work stoppages create "financial pressures," it also resulted in a "rift of schedules." Wasser notes, "You're not going into an office, a writer's room, a set every day. So those kind of pressures become difficult. And your dynamic changes. Your family dynamic." The simplest household errand can throw everything into pure chaos. "The person who's taking the kids to school could be different. And if it's not different, why isn't the person who is not working… why can't he get in the car and drive them to school? So, I saw a lot of that," she admits.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – OCTOBER 08: Divorce Attorney Laura Wasser attends a book party in her honor on October 8, 2013 in West Hollywood, California.

But it's Hollywood and Wasser has seen it all, so she wasn't fazed by the Great Breakup of 2023 as a family law attorney. "I think sometimes the stars align a certain way, and it may have nothing to do with anything, and it just is a coincidence," she says. The one thing she always hopes for is a peaceful mediation and divorce, Wasser doesn't want to get anywhere near a split fought through tabloid headlines. She leaves it up to the celebrities and "their PR people" to handle the news. But she does have a warning for any star who files in LA County: TMZ and RadarOnline are always lurking at the courthouse.

"It's never nice to find out that you're getting divorced by seeing it on TMZ or Radar," Wasser advises. "So, definitely let your spouse know before we file. And if you are people who are in the public eye, it may not be a bad idea to come up with a well-crafted social media post or have your PR people do it." Spoken like a true pro who has seen more than one Hollywood divorce go awry.

Celebrity Stylist Johnny Wujek Manifests Gen-Z Prom Line Collab With JCPenney

Johnny Wujek is living a manifestation that's come to fruition and he's excited to share it with the world!

The award-winning celebrity costume designer, known for his adventurous looks and big name clients, has partnered with JCPenney for what he's called a "manifestation" that's "magical." JCProm with Johnny Wujek releases on February 29 in select stores and on JCPenney.com

JCProm With Johnny Wujek Is A Manifestation Come True!

JCPenney

Wujek told The Blast that he's always wanted to design a prom line and now, he's living that dream thanks to a collaboration with JCPenney.

"This has been a manifestation of over a decade of something that I've wanted to do, launching a prom dress line. I grew up in the Midwest so prom for me was like the Grammys, so when I moved to LA and actually was at the Grammys and going to these things and these big events I was like, this is so major. Who would have thought that this kid from the Midwest was out here doing this," he told The Blast exclusively.

"So, this was such a cool way for me to bring the glitz and glam back to my community and across the company by partnering up with JCPenney to launch this prom dress line. So it's really cool how the universe worked out and it's happening now and it's the right time. It's gonna be a very exciting, very Johnny Wujek, taking influence from my stage performances and the red carpets and these events and bringing them to high school teenagers for their special night of prom."

JCPenney

The collection will include 22 "super versatile" pieces that's gender fluid. Wujek said, "it's for every body and everybody." When asked if he has a favorite piece in the collection, he said that's a hard one to narrow down.

"Everybody can wear all the pieces and mix and match the suiting and the gowns and I love a reveal so there's a reversible skirt, so there's two in one pieces, there's a coat tail that zips off into a little short crop tuxedo jacket," he said. "So it's hard to pick one because there's so many, but I think the one that's gonna stand out the most is gonna be this little mini bow dress. It's super editorial, it's super colorful. Whoever walks into prom wearing this is gonna be a good time."

JCPenney

The partnership was sort of a full-circle moment for Wujek, who not only shopped at JCPenney as a teen, but also had a relative work for the company. And a friend brought the two together for this exciting chapter in Wujek's life.

"The universe, it brought us together through a woman I had been friends with who's a manufacturer. I told her my idea. She's like this could be right up JCPenney's alley. JCPenney was my first taste of department store fashion and glamour," he told The Blast.

"I had an Aunt Mary who worked there, and she would for every birthday, communion, graduation, Christmas, we would get JCPenney gifts and so when it came about for us to connect, I thought oh my God, JCPenney that would be so cool because of my history back in Michigan being my fashion outlet and now we can collaborate on this together. And also, I've always wanted it to be something that's accessible, affordable, attainable, so a JCPenney is across the country and it just made sense. When we finally connected and signed the deal on my birthday, I was like, okay this is gonna be magical. I cannot wait."

As for prom styles, Wujek advises teens to "go all in" because it's such a big, exciting event for high schoolers.

"It's like your Oscars, your Grammys. It's a celebration of your peers of four years of high school, accomplishing you're graduating. It's celebrating this big event. It's such a fun thing to get dressed up for," he said. "I just think that it's an opportunity. When do you get that? This is your night. I say go all in. Think of it as a red-carpet Oscar event. Nothing is never enough. It's a moment. Embrace it and go for it."

Johnny Wujek Hasn't Looked Back Since Diving Into The World Of Fashion!

JCPenney

When Wujek moved to LA, he tiptoed right into the world of styling. After meeting Katy Perry one night at a party and the two hitting it off, he began doing costume design and major red-carpet events and getting recognition. That's when he dove right into the fashion world and hasn't looked back since.

And since that time, Wujek has worked with many amazing clients and can share many interesting stories, but one particular experience stands out for him.

"This is so funny, being from Michigan, but I grew up watching 'Wheel of Fortune' and Vanna was an icon to me. I was always like, she's so glamorous. When I did Katy for the Super Bowl, I was interviewed and they asked me who would I want to dress and it was Vanna White," he said. "Like two days later, Vanna White's team reached out to my agent and said Vanna would love for Johnny to dress her for a week."

Wujek recalls that he got to go to the show and got his name on the board. That experience quickly became a favorite memorable moment for him.

As for future endeavors, Wujek would love to one day direct a film. He said he was close to doing just that but then the writers' and actors' strike happened. And then the JCPenney collab happened, so maybe one day he will get to add director to his resume.

JCPenney

Another exciting part of the JCPenney partnership is the chance to give back to the community.

"I'm really stoked it's happening," he said. "When I first started talking to JCPenney I said I really wanted to give back."

And give back, they will! The retailer will be donating $250,000 to five schools to throw and unforgettable prom.

"We used all the associates at JCPenney to nominate different schools that give back to the community," he explained. "It's been amazing the response we've gotten."

Schools will be notified if they are one of the five chosen on March 8.

Man fights off armed thieves targeting Rolex watch in West Hollywood

LOS ANGELES – Surveillance video captured the moment three gunmen attacked a man who was wearing a Rolex watch while walking his dog in West Hollywood.

The victim, Rocco DiStefano, 29, who owns The Lab Athletic Club on Sunset Boulevard, said the incident happened on Tuesday in broad daylight at around 2 p.m.

He was walking his dog on a sidewalk outside the gym when the armed suspects spotted him.

Video shows the gunmen pulling over in a black Cadillac sedan, quickly jumping out of the car and sprinting toward DiStefano.

"When I turned around, it was three masked men running up to me," he recalled. "One had a gun."

DiStefano is seen trying to run away from the trio but is quickly cornered near an elevator. The attackers kept shouting at him, "Take it off! We're going to shoot you!"

  • DiStefano refused to lose his watch, clutching it tightly in his fist as the assailants knocked him down and began beating him.

"The adrenaline hit and they were on top of me, kicking me, punching me, pistol-whipping me," DiStefano said. "I've never had a gun pointed to my forehead so the only thing I was thinking of was, 'This is it.'"

DiStefano, who is also an amateur boxer, was able to put his skills to use as he began fighting back against the assailants. He eventually freed himself and ran to safety inside a nearby business.

Empty-handed, the thieves were seen running back to their getaway car before speeding away.

The violent altercation left DiStefano with cuts and bruises on his head, but he said he escaped mostly uninjured.

"I don't want to stop living my life because of these things but I'll definitely be more cognizant of where I wear jewelry," he said. "They'll have to do a lot more than kick me and hit me to take me down."

The victim's 4-year-old dog, who was uninjured, was rescued by a passerby who witnessed the mugging take place. Reunited with his beloved dog, DiStefano said he is glad they are both unharmed.

Authorities are investigating the assault and said a Metro bus that pulled up behind the suspects' sedan may have captured the vehicle's license plate and closer footage of the thieves.

The three gunmen and the getaway driver all remain at large. Anyone with information on the assault can call the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station at 310-855-8850.

Paramore has announced its first order of business as independent artists will be championing independent record stores as a Record Store Day Ambassador for 2024.

Paramore — the trio consisting of frontwoman Hayley Williams, Taylor York and Zac Farro — took to social media over the weekend to share the news and confirmed the band is "freshly independent," as Variety reported in January.

"After a long career in the music industry we have decided to announce that… we are going to continue to have a long career in the music industry (sorry for any inconvenience)," the band wrote on Instagram. With that being said, we are humbled to be your Ambassadors for Record Store Day 2024. The timing feels kismet."
