And They're Off! Kate Middleton and Prince William Officially Canada-Bound

Total Coverage of the Royal Romance

The British are coming! The British are coming!

Just as soon as they cross a couple international time zones, anyway.

Earlier today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridgeâ€"aka Prince William and Kate Middletonâ€"got all dolled up in their finest (nearly) matching navy travel suits and boarded a private plane from London to Canada, where they will embark on their 10-day trip to the colonies, which they will wrap up by hobnobbing with the stars in sunny California.

So what's the first stop for the royal couple? And, the perpetual question, what was Kate wearing?

Let's start with the most important bit: turns out, Kate's airport style is quite posh. For her travels, she donned a formfitting navy blue Roland Mouret Manon dress, currently a bargain at $935, a matching $595 navy blazer with brass buttons from Smythe (a Toronto-based brand, how's that for keeping on theme), a brand-new, in-season Mulberry handbagâ€"specifically, the Polly Push Lock Tote in "midnight shiny grain" that retails for $1,400, and Manolo Blahniks in the Calogera style.

As for Wills, well, uh, he was wearing a suit. A navy one. With a red tie. That's all we got.

As for their trip, the coupleâ€"who, naturally is taking the flight in a Royal Canadian Air Force aircraftâ€"is expected to land in Ottawa at 2 p.m. local time. Much has been made about the fact that it's the couple's first official royal engagement abroad, but it will also mark Kate's first time in either Canada or the U.S.

On arrival, they'll head from the airport to pay their respects at the Canadian cenotaph and tomb of the unknown warrior in central Ottawa, followed by an official welcome party at the Governor-General's residence. It will include a parade and full guard of honor. Later on tonight, the duo will attend an informal reception along with 120 young volunteers whose efforts helped the Royal Wedding Charitable Gift Fund.

Tomorrow will be just as action-packed for the couple, as it is Canada Day, and will feature a "Noon Show" that is attended by hundreds of thousands of citizens and is being billed as the main ceremonial moment of the tour.
