With less than a month until Captain America: First Avenger hits theaters, U.S. moviegoers have been pummeled with nearly every variety of Captain America poster and promo art under the shield-shaped sun: the Dunkinâ Donuts-sponsored kind, the violence against Hitler kind, the character kind, the dirt-rain kind, the Herculean jawline kind and, as of Thursday, the international kind. Letâs see how the overseas variety stacks up against a slew of American First Avenger posters.
The International Captain America Poster
It has everything: Tommy Lee Jones, Dominic Cooperâs Howard Stark, Hayley Atwellâs Peggy Carter and Captain America in flying V formation amidst a firestorm supervised by Red Skull. The only thing the overseas artwork needs is our patriotic Marvel superhero punching out a Nazi (see below for example).
Captain America Character Poster
Simple â" danger and dark skies loom in the background as our shielded protector stands alert and ready for duty.
Captain America Dirty Rain Poster
Also simple â" danger and eerie dirt rain loom in the background as our shielded protector mourns something â" possibly a less-polluted planet to protect.
Captain America Profile Poster
Triple-layered patriotism. American flag shield, American flag superhero costume, and if that was not enough, a gleaming American flag waving from behind Evansâs John Edwards-ian profile.
Captain America Vintage Poster
This retro artwork is still Movieline HQâs favorite Captain America poster. Itâs got nostalgia â" the design is modeled on the first Captain America comic artwork. Itâs got old-timey font. Itâs got all of the filmâs supporting characters watching in silent respect as Chris Evans punches out Hitler. Sadly, youâre going to have to wait until one of the 100 copies of this design (made for cast and crew) hits eBay.
Which is your favorite?
