R. Kelly's no longer trapped in a closet hospital.
The R&B star has been discharged from a Chicago hospital after undergoing emergency throat surgery. "He left the hospital last night and is recuperating at home in Chicago," says publicist Allan Mayer. "Still no word on when he'll be able to resume performing."
Kelly, 44, went to see a throat specialist on Tuesday and wound up in the emergency room at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where doctors drained an abcess on one of his tonsils.
