It's more fun than doing it alone
Movie theme week continued tonight on Dancing With the Stars.
Raphael Saadiq sang "Soul Man" from The Blues Brothers. Susan Boyle sang "Unchained Melody" (not "Enchanted Melody," Brooke Burke-Charvet, but nice try) from Ghost. And two-time pro champ Julianne Hough brought her adorable self back to the ballroom to cut a rug with her Footloose costar Kenny Wormald.
Whether that remake makes a dent at the box office remains to be seen, but another DWTS hopeful slipped through the cracks tonight. After a leaderboard shakeup that saw Chynna Phillips tie Nancy Grace after blanking on her tango routine, who got the boot tonight?

OMG, Chynna was actually voted off! We were not expecting that. Sure, she had a bad night, but...where were the fans?!
"I'm disappointed and I'm sad," the Wilson Phillips singer said afterward. "But I have to take responsibility. I messed up and...I have an amazing partner. I love you, Tony," she told Tony Dovolani. "He's been there for me 100 percent the entire way and I'm very grateful to have been on this show and have the opportunity. Thank you everyone who voted for me."
Inexplicably joining her in the red spotlight at the end was Rob Kardashian, who has been earning solid 24s and steadily improving week after week. But at least he's safe.

Reliably safe, on the other hand, were Ricki Lake and Derek Hough, who were a point away from perfection last night(!), and J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff.
Derek, FYI, dislocated his shoulder in rehearsal earlier today, but no one would have ever known judging by his fierce, lifts- and tricks-heavy jive with sister Julianne later in the evening.
"That's the happiest I've seen Len all week!" Tom Bergeron exclaimed of the oft-cranky head judge.

The judges can seem fickle at times, but boy is that an unforgiving audience out there! Chynna, who started off so strong a few weeks ago, ended up getting the boot, while Chaz Bono, who scored a 21 like Chynna, was safe.
Then again, Chaz had Cher on his side. The emotional icon applauded wildly from the sidelines after her son's paso doble to the Rocky theme, the pride evident in her face.

Hope Solo and Maks Chmerkovskiy, David Arquette and Kym Johnson and first-time last place finishers Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya also live to tango on another day.
And we hope Cher comes back. Next week is '80s week!
