Jay-Z is prepping his daughter's college fund and has signed a deal to be the face and voice of the Duracell Powermat JV, while acting as an investment partner as well.
The company behind the powermat technology says they picked him because "Jay-Z is power personified."
The rapper, on the other hand, says he is endorsing the product because he believes it is the technology of the future, explaining:
"I believe in the future of wireless energy and I believe that Duracell Powermat is the company to bring on the revolution. I'm partnering with Duracell Powermat because they're providing the solutions for the future."
The Powermat JV is a wireless pad that will charge any cell phone placed on top of it. It's a pretty smart investment because we don't see why this technology wouldn't take off.
One source claims Duracell is already planning to install the Powermats at Madison Square Garden so people can charge their cell phones simply by placing them on the bartop.
If that's true, it's only a matter of time before they become standard for any tabletop.
