The Buzz | Matt Lauer staying - Louisville Courier-Journal

Lauer staying

As expected, Matt Lauer announced early in Friday’s broadcast that he’ll be staying with NBC’s “Today” show.

“This is my family,” he said, flanked by Ann Curry and Al Roker. “I love this job. I love working with you guys.”

Lauer, whose contract status had been in question recently, has been “Today’s” anchor since 1997. Terms of the deal were not announced.

Winfrey determined

Oprah Winfrey promised advertisers she’s rededicated to making her struggling eponymous cable network, OWN, succeed.

At a Discovery Networks presentation, Winfrey thanked the ad crowd “for staying with us for what I call the climb of my life. I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, and it’s on Wilshire Boulevard (in Los Angeles) at OWN’s offices. With our restructuring and our right-sizing,” she said, in a reference to recent cutbacks, “we’re getting into the sauce of what needs to be happening on a daily basis. We’re nowhere near the summit, but I can see the summit.”

Among new OWN series announced are game show “Are You Normal, America?” and “The Six McGhees,” about an African-American family of sextuplets.

Vedder tour delay

Eddie Vedder has postponed his solo tour because of nerve damage in his right arm, reports The Associated Press.

The damage is a result of a back injury the Pearl Jam frontman suffered earlier this year. Vedder still isn’t well enough to play, says Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis.

West on the Walk

Holy overdue honor, Batman!Adam West, 83, got the 2,468th star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday.

West was honored for a 50-year career that has spanned from the title role on 1960s TV series “Batman” to the voice of Quahog’s mayor on “Family Guy.”
