Kanye West and Kim Kardashian drew curious looks at Chanelâs dinner for the Tribeca Film Festival.
KANYE WEST and Kim Kardashianan may be highly compatible, but their brands are not. The rapper drew double takes Tuesday night when he showed up at Chanelâs Tribeca Film Festival Dinner at Odeon with his new squeeze â" but not because theyâre the mediaâs latest celebrity obsession.
Word quickly traveled among the chic crowd that Kanye was supposed to come solo to the dinner, which also drew Robert De Niro, Liv Tyler, Val Kilmer, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, and he probably should have. One guest says Kardashian âwas really out of placeâ at the Tribeca bistro.
We think we understand why: West, whoâs a true hip-hop artiste and has brought his Dw collection to the runways of Paris, fits in with Chanelâs haute fashion image, but Kardashian, whose label hangs on racks at Sears, does not. Will H&M please come to the rescue?
BETHENNY FRANKEL is awfully popular these days. In addition to being Self magazineâs May cover girl, the âSkinnydippingâ author tells us that Betty Whiteâs camp has invited her to sit on the dais when the âHot in Clevelandâ star is roasted by the Friars Club on May 16. âForget the White House!â Frankel said of the honor at the intimate dinner that Self editor-in-chief Lucy Danziger hosted at Beauty & Essex on Tuesday.
Frankel sat between her hubby, Jason Hopper, and caustic comic genius Lisa Lampanelli, whoâs still holding strong on âThe Celebrity Apprentice.â Lampanelli, who will actually be roasting White at the Friars event, complimented Frankel for being outspoken â" and giving women something to look up to. âItâs so fâ"ed up!â Lampanelli cracked. âSheâs more inappropriate than me.â The Queen of Mean added that Frankel may have a future outside of reality television: âShe really should do standup.â
ALLAN HOUSTON didnât spend much time at the tables at his inaugural charity poker tournament Tuesday. Instead, the ex-Knicks guard told us heâd decided he would have more fun âwalking around, talking trashâ at the Grand Havana Room on Fifth Ave. There, Houston welcomed current Knicks Tyson Chandler, Landry Fields and Jared Jeffries and âNurse Jackieâ star Edie Falco to raise money for his Allan Houston Legacy Foundation. Cigar in hand, Houston told us he isnât much of a poker player, so he gave all of his chips away. Judging from the early exits of Chandler, Fields and Jeffries, the game had more donkeys than China.
SETH MEYERS says his bro-mance with Brian Williams is an electrifying thing. When we told the âSNLâ Weekend Update anchor weâd noticed that Amy Poehler had stood between him and the lantern-jawed NBC News anchor during a photo op at the Time 100 Gala on Tuesday night, Meyers replied that there was a very good reason: âIf we touch, it could power the city,â he said. Humina-humina!
