The odds were that either Gavin DeGraw or Melissa Gilbert would be sent home on Tuesday night's "Dancing with the Stars," but it was soap star Jack Wagner and partner Anna Trebunskaya whose season was canceled.

Jack and Anna may have been trying to "bring the sexy" Monday night and they did win over the judges, gaining a 24 for their highest score so far. But it was the viewers who cast the final votes, and they must not have appreciated his tearful story of meeting a grown daughter last year nor the samba that told the tale.

"It was a great time. I had a great time," said Jack. "It was fun to test myself."

Jack and Anna were joined in the bottom three by Gavin and Karina Smirnoff, and Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus.

The show was packed with entertainment and surprises. After a performance by Seal, along with The Troupe dancers, to start the results show, head judge Len Goodman led off with the suggestion for the producers that they "roll it over to next week because no one deserves to go home tonight." It only took host Tom Bergeron a beat or two to respond that "we're not going to do that!"

An emotional "AT&T Spotlight Dance" was performed by Anna Trebunskaya and husband Jonathan Roberts in honor of fellow dancer Julia Ivleva, who has stage 4 lung cancer.

Meanwhile, up in the Skybox (aka the Celebriquarium), cohost Brooke Burke-Charvet chatted it up with Donald Driver,

Jack Wagner, Sherri Shepherd and Melissa Gilbert and their pro partners. Brooke whipped out an envelope to announce that Sherri and partner Val Chmerkovskiy were safe, and Sherri broke into another frenetic celebration dance.

Then it was time for more entertainment -- Groovetime Horns joined the DWTS band as a crowd of male dancers strutted their stuff for the "Macy's Stars of Dance." And then Rascal Flatts performed while Tony Dovolani danced with a member of The Troupe.

Among the surprises was the announcement by Tom that after next week, the bottom two couples will dance again for the judges, who will decide who will be leaving the competition.

And the Internet was buzzing with "did they or didn't they" about two couples.

Supposedly, there's a lot of tension between Jaleel White and partner Kym Johnson, but it certainly didn't show in their performance. And there is the "was it or wasn't it" kiss between Maria Menounos and Derek Hough during their super-hot rumba, making them the romantic couple of the week.

The 10 couples performing next week will be Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff; Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd; Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower; Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy; Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas; Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus; William Levy and Cheryl Burke; Maria Menounos and Derek Hough; Sherri Shepherd and Val Chmerkovskiy; and Jaleel White and Kym Johnson.

And Brooke, dressed in an off-one-shoulder, short-skirt-with-a long-skirt-over-it kind of black dress, is back to posing with her hand on her hip. No matter how many surprises there are, some things never change.
