It turns out Kristen Wiig wasn’t the only one who had her final Saturday Night Live episode on May 19. After much speculation, Andy Samberg has confirmed that he too left the sketch comedy show after seven years and will not be returning as a cast member next season.

The actor, who joined SNL in 2005, is credited with pioneering the show’s beloved digital shorts segments along with The Lonely Island bandmates and SNL writers Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer.

“It’s an incredibly emotional and strange moment in my life,” Samberg, 33, told the New York Times on Friday. “Obviously it’s not a huge shock, but I did officially decide not to come back.”

But will there be more Digital Shorts in the future?

“That’s the kind of thing that I really do hope happens,” he said, adding that he hopes to one day host SNL if things work out.

“Something about it just feels like it’s the moment,” Samberg continued to explain about his exit. “My contract’s up and I did so much more than I ever thought I would ever even do.”

Check out some of Andy’s most memorable digital shorts below.

“Lazy Sunday”

“D-ck in a Box”
