Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has trusted his assistant/secretary, Mary O'Connor for almost 45 years. The recent widow has worked for Hefner since his days in Chicago and has remained friendly with all of his girlfriends, past and present. If you have ever watched the old reality show, The Girls Next Door, you know that Mary rules the roost and has an unwavering dedication to Mr. Hefner. It seems that yesterday, plenty of fans and the media wanted any tidbit of information about the rekindled love affair between Hef, 86, and his "Runaway Bride," 26-year-old Crystal Harris, as it turns out that O'Connor had a lot to do with it!
Harris, a DJ, fashion designer and Miss December 2010, left Hefner in dramatic fashion just five days before their wedding last Summer. She had a relationship with Dr. Phil's son, Jordan McGraw, and Hef continued his relationship with Harris' close friend, Miss January 2011, Anna Berglund and added two new girls, Miss November 2011, Shera Bechard and Trisha Frick as his girlfriends. Apparently, there is some confusion about the departure of Bechard from the mansion.
In response to all the interest in the return of Miss Harris, Hef tweeted, "It's Mary O'Connor that brought Crystal Harris back. Crystal was miserable & said so. Mary told Crystal to write & tell me, which she did."
Crystal Harris also made it very clear what was going on with her tweet yesterday: "Yes @HughHefner and I are back together. Yes I am his #1 girl again. Yes we are happy. Hope that clears up any confusion! xo"
It certainly does clear up the confusion of "how," but fans of Hefner and Playboy are still wondering "why"? The obvious reason seems to be that Hef just plain out loves Harris! Hugh Hefner is an American icon and 86 years old, if she makes him happy, so be it! Surely, Harris realized the vastly negative reception she received after leaving him at the altar last year and attacking him in the press. She's said she learned a lot, she has her own interests now and has seen life outside of the "World of Playboy." Hopefully, if the time comes again to leave the relationship, she will handle it with the grace of a young woman that's done a whole lot of growing up since last Summer.
