Following the end of its third season last June, "" will return for a short time to wrap up the story of 's Cathy. Showtime has announced that it ordered four one-hour episodes for the show's fourth and final season.

"From its inception, the show has been unique in its premise and its tone," said Showtime Entertainment president David Nevins at the TCA press tour on Monday, July 30, "and we're excited we've come up with a unique and format-breaking way to bring a conclusion to Cathy's story."

Justifying the decision to end the drama comedy series, Nevins said, "It needs to be planned." He went on reasoning by recalling his experience working on "", "I got the privilege of being able to plan the end of 'Friday Night Lights' with Jason [Katims] and it was for the finale episode that Katims won the Emmy for best writing. We don't have to be like the broadcast networks that make split-second decisions and cut shows. It can be built in nice, satisfying ways."

On how the story would end, Nevins advised fans not to assume anything. "We've been having a lot of very interesting creative conversations on how to do it," he gushed. "They've got a very interesting and novel, and form-breaking way to handle where the show is going. I think it's going to make for a very interesting season."

Also coming to its conclusion is "", which debuted its eighth and final season in early July. At the TCA panel, creator Jenji Kohan promised the series finale would not let many questions left unanswered. "Because we were given the opportunity to know when we were ending, we're not cliff-hanging necessarily," she said. "We're sort of wrapping things up."

Nevins supported Kohan's statement as claiming, "I've read the final script, and I think it answers a lot of questions very carefully planned towards." Kohan additionally spilled that some familiar faces from the past would make appearances before the show takes its final bow on September 16. "It's a trip down Memory Lane lined with all of our lovely characters from the past," she teased.

As for who takes the lead role of Nancy, she admitted that she cried when reading the script of the two-part series finale. "I just cried when I read it. I think it's beautiful," she shared. "I think she just managed to brings thing together in a way... She didn't make it a total happily-ever-after thing, but there was hope in it and there was some sort of benediction."
