Clint Eastwood talks about Romney and Obama while promoting his new movie, âTrouble with the Curve,â on Extra.
Even Clint Eastwood isnât defending Mitt Romney for inviting him to speak at the Republican National Convention.
When asked about his infamous performance with an empty chair during an interview with Extra, Eastwood quickly passed the buck to his down-on-his-luck candidate.
âIf somebody's dumb enough to ask me to go to a political convention and say something, they're gonna have to take what they get," he said, acknowledging that his comedy routine didnât get unanimously glowing reviews.
CLINT EASTWOOD SPEAKS OUT ABOUT HIS BIZARRE GOP CONVENTION SPEECH - AND NOT TO AN EMPTY CHAIR
âPeople loved it or hated it and thatâs fine,â he said. âThatâs what it was supposed to be.â
But Eastwood still had nice things to say about Romney, expressing hope that as president he would âbe a little more organized, a little more business-wiseâ than President Obama.
The interview was apparently filmed before Romneyâs latest campaign headache involving leaked video from a high-priced fundraiser that showed the Republican candidate calling 47 percent of Americans government freeloaders.
Eastwood, 82, had more tepid praise for the president after he was told that Obama had called himself a huge fan of the actor and director â" even after his RNC skit.
NOW ITâS THE DEMOCRATSâ CHANCE TO TOP GOPâS BUZZED-ABOUT CLINT EASTWOOD MOMENT
âWell, great. Well, I think he can be very gracious when he wants to be. Thatâs fine,â Eastwood said. âAnd I have no problem with him at all. I just have a problem with the situation that weâre in right now.â
âItâs nothing personal,â he added of Obama. âWhen he came in, I thought it was great. I thought the multiculturalism, multiracialism was great, all that kind of stuff.â

Clint Eastwood says âitâs doneâ and that he never looks back, when asked about chatting with an empty chair during his address to the Republican National Convention.
âBut to me, itâs just about the work,â he concluded.

Eastwood, who was promoting his new movie, âTrouble with the Curve,â was also asked if he would make the same decision to do the empty chair routine, if given the chance to change his mind.
âI donât know, I never look backwards. Itâs done and itâs done. I probably would. I wouldnât be afraid of it.â
