I'm a Celebrity airs double eviction in camp shocker

I'm a Celebrity airs double eviction shockITV

I'm a Celebrity… South Africa spoilers follow.

The first survival trial of I'm a Celebrity: South Africa has arrived, with Shaun Ryder and Gillian McKeith being the first celebrities to leave the all-stars camp.

Following last night's contraband controversy, the two camps were finally reunited. However it wasn't long before Ant and Dec threw out another curveball to the contestants - that Andy, Phil and Shaun would be facing the first survival trial.

The twist didn't end there either as each celebr ity was asked to pick someone from main camp to join them in the trial, with the losing pair being the first contestants to be sent home.

Phil picked Toff and Andy chose Jordan Banjo, who were both in good spirits and ready to help. However Shaun's decision to team up with Gillian McKeith didn't go down well with the TV personality, who bemoaned her ability to partake in a trial.

Titled 'Savage Safari', the trial saw each pair handcuffed together and tasked with retrieving spanners from boxes filled with snakes, rats and fish guts.

Toff and Phil got off to a strong start and raced ahead of their counterparts, with Jordan and Andy close behind.

Gillian however was unable to put her hand into the box to unscrew the spanner, screaming at the thought of reaching past snakes.

"Gillian, at least make a battle out of it," Ant called out, as the other pairs raced to the final boxes.

Jordan and Andy were first to finish, closely followed by Phil and Toff - leaving Gillian and Shaun to be the first campmates sent home.

"I'm a bit gutted to be going," Shaun reflected as the pair made their exits, while Gillian added that she'd loved her brief stint on the series.

"My time on I'm a celebrity has been fantastic. It's been the best time of my life," she added.< /p>
