See which Michigan sports stars are playing in celebrity scramble during Detroit’s PGA event

DETROIT – Numerous Michigan sports legends are set to participate in celebrity golf scramble ahead of Detroit's PGA tour event.

The AREA 313 Celebrity Scramble will take place at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27 a few days before the fifth Rocket Mortgage Classic takes place at Detroit Country Club.

Pro Football Hall of Famers Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson, Red Wings All-Star forward Dylan Larkin and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Tom Izzo will return to the event.

They will be joined by two newcomers, former Michigan basketball and NBA star Chris Webber and WWE Superstar "The Miz."

The scramble was named the PGA Tour's "Best Special Event" after its debut in 2019.

"We're looking forward to introducing a new twist to the AREA 313 Celebrity Scramble by adding Chris Webber and The Miz to our field. It's always fun to see Detroit sports legends up close and personal testing their golf games alongside PGA TOUR pros, and having a professional wrestler in the mix this year will make it even more entertaining," said Jason Langwell, Executive Director of the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

"We are proud to be able to offer fans complimentary admission to all the amazing events on Detroit Community Days as part of our dedication to making the Rocket Mortgage Classic accessible to everyone in our communities."

The scramble pits six, four-player teams against each other in a three-hole exhibition match over holes 14 through 16. PGA Tour players are grouped with celebrity athletes and entertainers, players from The John Shippen National Golf Invitational.

Additional celebrity scramble participants will be announced in the coming weeks, organizers said.

Grounds tickets for the tournament itself start at $65 per day, with LendingTree Lounge passes beginning at $110 and Club Ace passes starting at $300.

All kids 15 and under receive complimentary admission to the Rocket Mortgage Classic when accompanied by a ticketed adult (up to four kids per adult).
