HOLLYWOOD — The pink-speckled stars along Hollywood Boulevard in California will soon display the names of two more South Carolina-born celebrities.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame added the late Chadwick Boseman and Darius Rucker to its 2024 class of entertainment professionals to be honored at the iconic West Coast landmark.
Since the first-ever terrazzo and brass stars were laid in 1960, more than 2,700 now cover 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street. The upcoming class will add 31 more.
An Anderson-native and "Black Panther" lead, Boseman, receives the posthumous accolade in the motion pictures category. He passed away in August 2021 after a battle with colon cancer.
Rucker, a country singer and former frontman of '90s band Hootie & the Blowfish from Charleston, is being recognized in the recording category.
The entertainers were two of hundreds nominated for this class. The Walk of Fame Selection Panel of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce made their final picks on June 16. The Hollywood Chamber's Board of Directors approved the choices on June 21.
