The 2024 Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards honored those who made a "significant impact in the entertainment industry" over the past year.
Jason Lee, founder of Hollywood Unlocked, made sure that nothing was off-limits when it came to the lavish affair, held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Tiffany Haddish returned to host as Cardi B, Fat Joe, Jonathan Majors, Ben Crump, Christian Louboutin, Jasmine Crockett, Sharon Stone, Da Brat and her wife, Jesseca Harris-Dupart were celebrated as this year's honorees.
The latter took home the Spirit Award. Fat Joe received the Culture Award; Crump accepted the Community Award as Crockett won the Social Impact Award. Cardi earned the Inspiration Award while Stone was surprised with the Icon Award. Louboutin received the Innovator Award and Majors accepted th e Perseverance Award.
Per the outlet, the Spirit Award is given to someone "who embodies the feeling of pride and inspiration through their contributions to the entertainment and social communities [and] made an impact on the world by using their platform to uplift the masses and demonstrate that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel." The Culture Award is given to someone who is "vital to moving the culture forward."
The Community Award is given to one whose "lifetime of achievements have forever changed the world for the better" whereas the Social Impact Award is given to someone "who has used their platform to fight for change by giving a voice to their community." The Inspiration Award is given to someone whose "defied the odds, come out on top, pushed through hardships and defeat to emerge as a phoenix."
The Innovator Award is given to one who has "transformed a specific genre of the entertainment industry [through] longevity and consistency in their field" while the Perseverance Award recipient is one "who has shown that no matter what adversity they face, they will continue to aspire to inspire."
The Icon Award is the Impact Awards' highest honor.
Cardi B spoke on being her "biggest critic" and reminding the crowd that her sophomore album is coming, but perfectionism is weighing on her heavily. Iyanla Vanzant presented Majors with his award. Both he and his girlfriend, Meagan Good, erupted in a fit of tears as he made his acceptance speech.
A video clip of Vanzant coddling Majors is facing major scrutiny, especially after she spoke on being "cancelled" and a survivor of an abusive relationship. Lee responded to the backlash by saying, "I AM MY BROTHAS KEEPER. Redemption is a part of every single person's journey. The real honor here was being able to give it to Jonathan."
