Just days after Shifty Shellshockâs passing, his cause of death has been revealed.
The singer for Crazy Town and the Celebrity Rehab alum, born Seth Binzer, died from an accidental drug overdose â" specifically âa combination of prescription drugs and street purchased drugsââ" according to a statement issued to People by Howie Hubberman, Crazy Townâs manager.
âSeth Binzer, after struggling with addiction and Crazy Townâs rapid success with âButterfly,â never was able to reach out on a more successful level to deal with his addictions,â he shared with the outlet. âWe all tried, but ultimately we all failed, or Shifty would still be here.â
He also added, âShifty was a friend and really wanted to get himself fixed â" unfortunately no one had the exact tools to do this, myself included.â
On Monday (June 24), 49-year-old Shellshock was found dead in his home in Los Angeles. TMZ reports that while the autopsy is complete, his cause of death is still listed as âdeferredâ by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner pending toxicology results.

They eventually assembled Crazy Town with Rust Epique, James Bradley Jr., Doug Miller, Adam Goldstein and Antonio Lorenzo âTroubleâ Valli. The band became known for their song âButterfly,â which sampled the Red Hot Chili Peppersâ 1989 song âPretty Little Ditty,â per Variety.
Binzer could be seen in the first two seasons of both Celebrity Rehab and its spin-off, Sober House, through which he opened up about his struggles with drug use.
Variety reports that he is survived by his three children: Halo, Gage and Phoenix.
