I'm A Celebrity to replace Tommy Fury with Maura Higgins after boxer's last minute snub

I'm A Celeb looking to 'replace Love Island's Tommy Fury with Maura Higgins'

Bosses on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! are reportedly hoping to replace Tommy Fury with Maura Higgins for the next series.

Boxer Tommy had been discussing joining the hit ITV reality show with producers for some time before reportedly recently deciding to turn it down. It was said he decided another reality TV show is not for him and dropped out of the 2024 series of the series set in the Australian jungle.

It was previously Tyson Fury's little brother had received a better offer and opted to enter the boxing ring to fight KSI once again rather than compete in the jungle. And now, source claim his Love Island co-star and his ex Molly-Mae Hague's close friend Maura Higgins is being eyed up to be his replacement.

Tommy, Molly-Mae and Maura were all on the same series of Love Island in 2019. Maura initially had her eyes on Tommy but that quickly ended. Tommy and Molly-Mae went on to win the show before welcoming a daughter named Bambi. They even got engaged but split this year.

An insider recently claimed: "With Tommy Fury pulling out it gave show bosses the opportunity to look at other Love Island stars and Maura stood out as the perfect candidate." They also told The Sun that she would 'bring a bit of glamour' to the jungle and be 'a brilliant campmate'. ITV said about the claims: "Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! are just speculation." The Mirror have reached out to Tommy and Maura's reps for comment.

It comes after sources claimed to the same publication that he opted out of the show after receiving a more lucrative offer. The boxer, who recently split from fiancée Molly-Mae Hague, had been discussing joining the hit ITV reality show with producers for some time before deciding to turn it down, although the show's start date is fast approaching.

Tommy has been dodging questions about his possible jungle stint. When he was questioned about signing up for the show on Heart Breakfast, he said: "Listen a lot of things in my life is like a rollercoaster in a minute. There are so many things I might do. You know, could he be doing this? Could he be doing that? To be honest with you, I don't know what I'm doing this afternoon. I mean, I just take literally an hour at a time, so I don't know. There's a lot of things going on in my life right now. So, I'm not sure on anything."
