An argument has erupted on social media with fans of Dean McCullough accusing ITV bosses of editing him to look bad on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The 33-year-old radio host became a fan favourite when the current 2024 season of the long-running reality show started airing earlier this month. Viewers have been amused by his hysterical reactions to trials which have seen him screaming manically while being coated in fish guts - and seemingly as a consequence, he has now been nominated to take part in six trails.

While he is in the jungle, Dean's team have been running his social media outlets to keep his content rolling while his popularity soars. And on Monday, they cracked a joke about him undertaking the next trial - by sharing a short clip of him abruptly checking his phone. A caption stated: "Dean checking if the next trial involves fish guts." While another message stated: "The sky is the limit with this one Dean."

But fans of the reality star have a theory that he is not being well presented on the reality show. One fan wrote in reaction to Dean's Instagram post: "We love Dean genuinely feel itv are editing this series to make him look bad." Another agreed, writing: "I thought this too but he can only say the words himself and act the way he is acting. Unfortunately it doesn’t make him look great. I love Dean too."

But others argued that the radio host has been putting himself in a bad light. One wrote: "Edited or not itv aren't responsible for his attitude and actions." And others expressed concern that he has been voted to take on the trails too many times. One fan wrote: "As much as he is entertaining can we not see someone else do a bloody trial now."

Others suggested the star may regret signing up to I'm A Celeb, writing in reaction to the Instagram post: "Dean checking to see how much of a career mistake it was to go on I’m a celeb" - along with a crying-with-laughter emoji. But others want to back him all the way, with one writing: "Vote Dean to Win."

Viewers are not alone in thinking Dean has been nominated for the trials one time too many. Show host Ant McPartlin has grown tired of talking him through challenges. Appearing on spin-off show, I'm A Celeb.... Unpacked, on Sunday night, Ant hinted he has had enough of guiding the Northern Irish star through trials. Show host Joel Dommett asked the veteran presenter: "What do you think about Dean doing the trial again tomorrow?" And Ant replied: "Well, right. Let’s all have a serious talk. I’m going to look directly into the camera here. I think it’s good to see other faces down there."

He continued: "This is not a personal thing. It’s not about Dean. It’s about us, just seeing different people down there. I think we want to see different people on the show doing [trials]. Some people are, unfortunately, aren't getting... I'd like to see Barry do a trial. I'd like to see Melvin down there. Or Oti."

Unpacked co-host Sam Thompson then suggested fans should vote for their own favourites to take part - prompting Declan Donnelly to say: "We need to mobilise armies of McFly fans, Corrie fans (to vote)." The group then joked that Facebook users would need to vote for Jane Moore - suggesting her fans would be using antiquated social media to support her. And then Ant asked: "Who is still voting for Dean? I don't get it."
