2024 Celebrity Deaths: James Earl Jones, Maggie Smith, Toby Keith and many more


From the iconic voice of "Star Wars" villain Darth Vader to the beloved "Harry Potter" actor who portrayed Professor Minerva McGonagall, 2024 was a year of big losses when it came to celebrities and A-listers.

James Earl Jones, Maggie Smith, Shannen Doherty and Quincy Jones are just a few on the list of famous names we've lost in the last year.

The Associated Press compiled a month-by-month tally of the deaths. They included not only actors and singers, but sports legends, civil rights leaders, filmmakers and TV hosts. You can see the full list here.
