Actress Alexa PenaVega recently sat down with pro-life advocate Lila Rose to discuss why she stands for life and family values in Hollywood.

"In this realm of movies that we're trying to make, there are only a handful of people I feel like trying to make family-friendly content, and the content that's out there is hard to watch because it's so cheesy," the SPY KIDS star told Rose. "It's so hard to watch where you're like, 'Okay, I know this is appropriate for the whole family, but I also want to watch something good.' So, a lot of times we end up compromising and going and watching other stuff which is, you know, fine, but it's not great for your spirit. It's not great for your kids to, you know, watch stuff that compromises…their values and your belief system."

"We're trying to change that, we really are, but we're definitely coming up against a lot of obstacles in that area, and it's a bummer, but, you know how it is when you're leading the way on something, it's not going to be easy," she added. PenaVega and her husband Carlos are starring in Great American Family's GET HIM BACK FOR CHRISTMAS.

One area she will never compromise in is her strong stance against abortion, which is tragically a norm in culture today.

"Abortion is a cultural norm. Nobody thinks anything of it, it's just a normal thing…just like slavery back in the day was a normal thing it was their cultural norm we need a massive culture shift," PenaVega explained.

She explained that her pro-life position put her on a blacklist in Hollywood. But despite the damage it did to her career, PenaVega hasn't backed down.

She continued, "I have conversations with people who have very different views. All I can do is share with them people's journeys through what had happened through their abortions, and you know, people who have been conceived through rape who are now very loud pro-life advocates. I can just plant a seed."

The actress even encouraged one young mother to choose life.

She explained that last year a "well-known" man reached out to her and said that a young woman had messaged him because her sister was going to have an abortion, and she was a fan of PenaVega. He asked her to join a call with the girl…The two spent about an hour and a half talking…Despite not feeling like she had made much of an impact on the teen, the girl decided to keep the baby.

Her advocacy doesn't end with saving the life, though.

"Pro-life means ALL of life – looking at the aspect of the child, but also the mom," PenaVega argued. "The mom needs resources and help."

"I honestly believe that you either believe in life as a whole, and you see babies, whether babies are in the womb or outside of the womb, as life or you don't," she said last year. "And…once life begins — that is a whole baby. That is a beautiful life, and for me, I will do whatever it takes to protect that."
