Of course, Matsoukas isn't the only filmmaker who is getting in on the fun with Chase Sapphire Reserve®. Actress, Maude Apatow, takes a turn as femme fatale in "The Search for the Sapphire," which premiered on the livestream at Vogue World: Hollywood.
It's a quiet afternoon at The Beverly Hills Hotel, and a disguised Apatow under a silk head wrap and oversized black sunglasses slips through the lobby unnoticed. She makes her way up the elevator and down the hall to a private penthouse suite, where a safe holding a box awaits. Inside, the item she's been looking for: The Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card. "Never misplace a Sapphire," she says into the darkness.
Once the card is captured, color floods the screen, and a bright and bushy-eyed Apatow—clad in a white, jewel adorned topper and polka dot skirt and bralette—escapes the scene. She looks back in the rearview mirror of her black convertible, and gives a knowing look that seems to say, "Mission Complete."
In "Character in Play," Chase Sapphire Reserve® and Vogue caught up with Apatow—the real Apatow—as she gets ready for her big night out at Vogue World: Hollywood. In between decadent looks that span decades, from the embellished curves of a cabaret star in the 1940s to the mod and color blocked attire of a 1960s pop star, Apatow speaks to the camera about iconic Hollywood. She adores a pin curl, a red lip, but mostly, she enjoys working with costume designers. "They really help you step into a role as an actor," she says.
Of course, stepping out of character is just as important when you're in Tinseltown. The best place to do that? Why, a legendary hotel, of course, where Chase Sapphire Reserve® supplied an intimate photo booth for attendees to pause, pose, and keep moving throughout the night.
More than just a fabulous party, the celebration that went well into the morn ing was thrown in support of actors, workers and other creatives in the film industry, most especially costume professionals directly impacted by the LA wildfires. It's not every day a partnership like Vogue and Chase Sapphire Reserve® comes to life, but when it does, well, let's just say the result is nothing short of movie magic.
