Hollywood celebrates 100th anniversary with downtown festival

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Thousands gathered at ArtsPark at Young Circle on Saturday as Hollywood marked its 100th anniversary with a community celebration highlighting the city's history and growth.

Founded in 1925 by Joseph Young, Hollywood has grown to more than 150,000 residents. The centennial event featured vintage cars, old fire trucks and a presentation showcasing what the city once looked like, along with food trucks, vendors and live appearances from city leaders.

"I'm happy to be here tonight and I'm just celebrating 100 years of Hollywood," said Alnisa, a local vendor. "Tonight is super special… I'm just so grateful to be a part of this community."

Residents said the celebration reflected the city s spirit.

"I've wanted to live here forever," said Tracey Bivelo. "Our beach is beautiful. The people are great," another attendee said.

Families also enjoyed winter-themed attractions — including slides covered in faux snow — and a Christmas tree lighting that signaled the start of the holiday season.

With diverse crowds and hometown pride on full display, many said the centennial proved one thing: Hollywood still feels like home.
