Oh no!!
It looks like the Academy is looking around to see if there's another venue in Los Angeles to better fit their needs.
And we're not sure we like this!!
They're currently nestled in the beautiful Kodak Theatre â" adding even more MAGIC and SPARKLE to Hollywood Boulevard.
And while they're technically under contract to remain with Kodak for 20 years, there's a clause that allows them to "explore." But we don't want them too!
Take the Nokia Theatre for example. Sure, it's larger and newer, but does it have the same class and grandeur that the Oscars deserve?? We don't know..
But a rep for the Academy insists they're only exercising the option to see what happens:
Our plan right now is to exercise this and then see what happens, what goes on. Weâre open. Personally, I love the Kodak. Iâll say that until Iâm blue in the face. Iâve been there since the very beginning. But in the next year the Kodak and others will come to us and the [Academy] board will make a decision at some point.
Of course, it all comes down to business and while the Kodak might be the best fit quality wise, a venue like Nokia could seat more peopleâ¦
We're still not sure about this, but what do U think?
