Jessica Simpson Makes First Post-Baby TV Appearance on Katie Couric's New Talk ... - Hollywood Reporter

Jessica Simpson Katie Couric Show - H 2012

Jessica Simpson wore a slimming black dress with a flared skirt for her first TV appearance since giving birth to daughter Maxwell Drew Johnson on the premiere of Katie, Katie Couric's new afternoon talk show.

"I'm very nervous!" the singer and fashion designer, 32, admitted as she sat down with Couric. "I just had a lot of pressure on me to lose the baby weight. Today was one of my goals: getting here, feeling comfortable. I feel beautiful today!"

The Fashion Star mentor also addressed her plans to wed former NFL pro Eric Johnson. "We have not set a date," she said. "It won't be this year. We haven't had time!" Adding: "I really want to do a big fun wedding with my friends and family.

And just like Katie Holmes, who waited until she lost her Suri Cruise baby weight to don her Armani wedding gown, Simpson is probably postponing the ceremony until she can be comfortable walking down the aisle. Can't blame her there.

Simpson admits that her weight loss endorsement with Weight Watchers  "is definitely a challenge." But she has a good incentive, especially since she won't get her $3 million payday until reaching her target weight.

Though she admits that it's been harder to lose the weight than she thought it would be. “All the weight did not come off with the baby! I've had to really stay focused on my diet and really concentrate on what i'm putting in my body."

More things we learned from Couric’s in-depth interview with Simpson:

1. She no longer eats Slutty Brownies.

2. She doesn’t read magazines and she definitely doesn’t Google her name.

3. The only fish Simpson ate growing up were fish sticks. "I like chicken fingers, fried, Mexican, barbeque.”

4. Simpson takes Maxwell with her on her walks. Her new goal is 14,000 steps a day, about seven miles.

5. Simpson believed that when her water broke she would lose all that weight. (Now there's the Simpson we all know and love.)

As for other people judging her for not losing it faster, Simpson has a healthy outlook on that: "I really have to separate myself from the world's expectations and really just look inside myself and be healthy with myself. . . I want to be a phenomenal role model for my child."

Awww. But seriously, Simpson's appearance felt like an infomercial for the weight loss company. Do you really care about how much baby weight Jessica Simpson loses and how fast?
