Hollywood police investigate triple shooting resulting in 1 dead, 2 hospitalized 01:57

MIAMI - One person is dead and two others were rushed to an area hospital following a shooting in Hollywood Thursday afternoon.

Police said they received a call shortly before 4:30 p.m. about a shooting near the 5800 block of McKinley Street.

When officers arrived, they located three victims. One was pronounced dead and two were rushed to Memorial Regional, where their condition is unknown.

Police said there is no suspect believed to be at large.

Neighbors say the man killed lived with two nephews whose father was killed 15 years ago.

Those neighbors say the man tried to kill himself. They claim the nephews tried to stop him.

Gunfire wounded all three.

According to neighbors, the man who died drove tow trucks and looked out for everyone in their community.

"He always came over and asked us how we were doing. We would go over there and check on him..." said Michelle McDougall, neighbor. "He was a like a gentle giant."

"He was constantly entertaining and watching the neighborhood and just an all-around good guy, cooking for his family."

"He would do anything for anybody."

Authorities continue to investigate.
