The Chinese entertainment industry was left in shock and despair on September 11, 2025 after news emerged that popular actor Yu Menglong, aged 37, had supposedly died under shady circumstances. Powerful blogger Jiang Xiaoyan reported that Yu's friend had confirmed the fact. Yu had reportedly joined a private dinner with some friends in Beijing on September 10, according to reports. SINGAPORE – The increase in the number of concerts and events in Singapore has brought on a surge in complaints against the entertainment industry, the Consumers Association of Singapore (Case) said on Aug 1. The number of such complaints spiked to 670 in the first half of 2024, from 105 cases in the same period in 2023. Nearly three-quarters of the complaints were against Asian Couture and Boutique, the organiser of the Singapore Sky Lantern Festival, said the consumer watchdog. The firm had promoted the event as one in which lanterns would float in the night sky ab ove Sentosa's Palawan Green on Feb 21. However, it failed to obtain the licences and permits required for releasing lanterns with a lit flame into the sky.
